Trichy did not have a clubbing scene. It had weddings, it had college culture, and it had people who travelled to Chennai or Bengaluru for a night out. There was no room, no rota of nights, and no crowd that knew each other.
Nigal Nightlife started D-Launch and built the thing from nothing: the floor, the sound, the DJs, the door policy, the regulars. What exists now is a community as much as a venue, and it is the reason a Friday in this city looks different than it did five years ago.
